Home Health Care History

Early nineteenth century witnessed the early stages of care in the home health industry, which offers qualified nurses caring for the poor and sick in their homes. In 1909, when the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company began writing a policy that consists of home health care, the industry has become very popular. The company is a credit to pay compensation for home health care industry first. This led to the birth of organized medical home.

Great Depression in 1929 caused some companies, along with the industrial houses many obstacles and struggles. It was not until a nurse follow-up visits after discharge from hospital is reimbursed by Medicare law in 1966. Home industry has become the most convenient and practical, when Medicare in an effort to reduce inpatient costs configuring DRG (Diagnostic Related Groups). It is found that any illness or hospital practice requires a certain period of residence. Patients so that patients have been discharged more than their counterparts in the DRG.

This story does not end with the DRG. In fact, it is the beginning of treatment patients compared with medical ethics debate. This topic should be considered soon in this segment of health care reform. Price of health care is a problem. Questions like how much the loss of human life and how long to pay a deposit of the people who lived after he ceased to be contributors to society should be addressed.
